What Gothic are:

A multimedia “border project” expressing music, poetry and figurative arts through modern technology. Please read our lyrics and see our pictures/videos, because they are not only all at one with Gothic’s music, but they are also as essential as the music itself.

A highly experimental dark ensemble seeking to express the different faces of the “darkness inside the contemporary human being” by means of different musical genres, vaguely defined as “darkwave-avantgarde heavy music”.

Strictly a studio-based project, because we believe that the purest expression of art stays in the moment of composition and not in that of performance. We have deliberately chosen isolation and loneliness, because it is only in solitude that one can explore the darkness within.

An independent project comprised of 100% art, and without any commercial compromise. We don’t care about the form (perfect and clean recording) of our art, but only about its own substance (ideas and concepts), and we don’t care about the media’s expectations of us. Our next release could be labelled as “death rock,” “death metal” or “chamber music” and we, ourselves, cannot know what we’ll be and then what we’ll do next month. To be unforeseeable is a natural part of our way to be, no thrills!

An innovating project in perpetual motion: we consider continuity, musical rules and trends, as concepts, very limiting to human creativity. We make our own trends and musical rules. Although we are completely opposite to those bands that endlessly and tediously repeat their style, and to any idea of “blind coherence” (which is the real executioner of originality), that doesn’t mean we want to repudiate our death-gloom metal past because we’ll be forever very proud of it! Preserving the past and preparing for the future are one and the same.
